In this section we will introduce some common notation for vectors as well as some of the basic concepts about vectors such as the magnitude of a vector and unit vectors. We also illustrate how to find a vector from its staring and end points. It is important to realize that this notation is NOT the magnitude of the vector F x and F y. The magnitude of a vector has to be a positive number. To really use these you need unit vectors Vectors. This is a vector A vector has magnitude (size) and direction The length of the line shows its magnitude and the arrowhead points in the direction.

Magnitude of the vector represents the displacement of a quantity from its origin. Thus to describe a vector completely the magnitude as well as direction is needed. Let us see some examples to calculate the magnitude of a vector.
